My eating habits have come a long way since my diagnosis.
Cutting out gluten opened my eyes to a whole new world of food. I’ve learned
that veggies can be delicious (baked sweet potatoes are the BOMB) and that
complex carbs are so much more interesting than refined ones. In fact, I’d take
a bowl of protein-rich quinoa over a helping of plain white rice anyday! I’m so
convinced that I’m sharing the news with you…
But let’s get one thing straight here: I have a major sweet
tooth. (In case you couldn’t already tell :) Admittedly, I indulge from time to
time…who doesn’t?!
But I’m learning ways to satisfy my sugary cravings with
healthier alternatives. Here are some naughty-but-nice snacks to try:
Caramel rice cakes with nut butter
Milk (soy, almond or rice) warmed with a swirl of cinnamon
and a dash of agave
Banana slices drizzled with caramel or honey
Chocolate dipped fruit – strawberries are my fav!
Protein bars – NuGo’s dark chocolate pretzel bars taste like
candy but aren’t pure sugar!
